Summer Li (李夏)

Summer is a CNVC Certified Trainer based in Beijing, China, and the mother of three children—including a son and twin daughters. She integrates Nonviolent Communication (NVC) deeply into her parenting and family life.

Before discovering NVC in 2012, Summer worked as the program manager at a pioneering educational research institute that introduced the latest international educational philosophies and methodologies to schools, teachers, and administrators across China. She noticed that despite learning cutting-edge pedagogy, teachers often failed to create real classroom change. This led her to realize the critical impact of communication.

At her first NVC workshop, Summer experienced a profound personal shift. A long-standing resentment toward her father—after more than a decade of distance—melted away when she connected with her own needs for ease and protection. This awakening set her on a life path of studying and sharing NVC.

In 2013, Summer was invited to deliver a TED talk on the theme Enjoy Conflict . Her talk was later published on the official TED website, further deepening her public engagement with communication and education.

In 2016, she left her senior leadership position in international education to devote herself fully to NVC. Since then, she has introduced NVC to tens of thousands of people across China through training, consulting, and public speaking. She also brought The No-Fault Zone Game which was developed by the principal of NVC to China and now serves as its Head Coach.

In 2019, while exploring NVC content on YouTube, Summer came across an interview with Sylvia Haskvitz, founder of the CALF Team. She was deeply moved by Sylvia’s presence and message, and soon invited her to teach in China. That encounter marked a turning point in her NVC journey, as she began to taste the beauty of the living, flowing, integrated quality of NVC. Over time, she naturally became part of the CALF Team.

Summer is the Program Director for China’s Certified NVC Facilitator program of Beijing Alliance of New Occupations Alliances, and she serves as the team member for CALF China. Since 2018, she has translated and co-edited over ten NVC-related books. In 2024, she authored a book featuring 81 parent-child NVC practices to support deeper relationships and awareness.

She holds a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education Management and is especially passionate about spirituality, parenting, personal growth, and applying NVC in educational settings.
